Spring Daze festival slated for Saturday

Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and for those still looking for that perfect gift, Thomasville’s City Beautification Committee may have the answer at its third annual Spring Daze at Depot festival scheduled for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Thomasville.
The event will include music, entertainment, food, crafts, and much more. The State Beautification mascot Beautifly will be visiting with those in attendence throughout the day.
Spring Daze, which was started in 2003, was organized as an addition to many cities across the state that hold spring festival. During the fall, the city holds the annual Everybody’s Day festival, but during the spring there wasn’t any kind of activities. Christy Parrish, with the help of Beautification Committee Chair Carol Brown, undertook the project and on Saturday, the 3rd. Annual Spring Daze will take place.
Musical events scheduled for the event include:
• 9 - 9:45 a.m. — Kelly Craver (acoustic)
• 10 - 11 a.m. — Heatwave (60s & 70s rock)
• 11 – 11:45 a.m. — Benjamin Lately (jazz & Blues from 30’s & 40’s
• 12 – 1 p.m. — Shadowing Nehemiah (Christian contemporary)
• 1 – 2 p.m. — Negative Polarity (metal)
• 2 – 3 p.m. — Honey Bomb (blues & rock)
Food Vendors to be in attendence include:
• Carolyn Adams – assorted fresh baked cookies
• Kam Concessions (Amy Nicole or Kathryn Motz) – frozen candy bars, freeze pops, candy, juices, bottled water, novelty toys, coffee & hot chocolate
• Mr. B’s Ribs & Chicken (Berlin Belin) BBQ pork ribs, BBQ chicken, slab of ribs, and soft drinks
• Side Street Café (Shirley Byrnes) – fried pies, pound cake, and coffee
• Sleepy’s Treats & Drinks (Stephanie Leak) – Smoked turkey legs, smoked sausage, wings w/ bread, soda & water
• Beautification Committee – Fresh strawberries

• Cross Creek Garden Center (Debbie Cross) plants Note: Container Planting Class – whether you prefer flowers, mixed plants or herbs, we will have all the materials on site to teach you how to container plant for a beautiful spring patio. You may buy container at the site or bring your favorite container with you. We will have topiaries, plants, potting soil and herbs on site for you to purchase after you select your plants we will assist you (or just do it for you) in planting your containers. We have garden gifts, hanging baskets & other items.

New to this year’s event, the Chair City Cruise-In will hold a showing of classic cars, motorcycles and truckes. Plaques will be awarded for “Best in Class” for car, motorcycle, street rod, truck and corvette.
