TMS Band Students of the Month announced

Thomasville Middle School band students Ashley Bayse, Shuntaria Wood and Asia Davenport were recently selected by the Thomasville Band Boosters as “Band Students of the Month” for September, October and November, respectively.
Bayse, an eighth grader, is an outstanding flutist in her third year of training on the flute and her fourth year on the piano.
She has been selected as Band Student of the Month for three years running. She sings in the TMS Eighth Grade Chorus and participated in the Davidson County All-County Chorus in October.
In addition to her musical studies, Bayse has played volleyball for three years. She is the daughter of Mark and Audrey Bayse.
Wood is a seventh-grade tenor saxophonist who has been chosen for inclusion in the Who’s Who Among Outstanding Middle School Students publication. She plays alto saxophone as well, and also plays in the TMS Jazz Band. She is a member of Girl Scout Troop 652 and performs with a praise dance team at her church, where she is also secretary of the Youth Choir.
She is the daughter of Kenneth and Selestine Wood.
Davenport is an eighth-grader in her third year of studying the clarinet. An Honor Roll student, Davenport was recently selected for participation in the Davidson County All-County Band. Davenport attends St. John A.M.E. Zion Church where she is a member of the Youth Choir, the Junior Usher Board and the Sunday School & Hospitality Committee.
She is the daughter of Georgette Davenport.
One student from TMS is selected for each month in the school year. Selection is based upon dedication, participation, and “musicality” as defined by TMS band director Amy Burns.
