THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Beulah Cash Duncan, 99, of 207 South Street, died Thursday, July 3, 2008, in Hospice of the Piedmont. Surviving are five daughters, Elizabeth D. Richardson of Charlotte, NC, Sarah Frances Leak, Virginia Allen (Henry), and Edna Gordon (James) all of Thomasville; Emma Smith (George) of Winston-Salem; and one son, Amos Duncan (Margaret) of Thomasville, N.C.; 52 grandchildren; 134 great-grandchildren; 113 great-great grandchildren; 4 great-great-great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in Friendship Baptist Church and burial will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery in High Point. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday 30 minutes before the funeral service and other times at the home. S. E. Thomas Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. *** Lee Gilliland THOMASVILLE — Mr. William Lee Gilliland, 86, devoted husband and loving father, a resident of 1415 Center Road, died Thursday, July 3, 2008, at his home. He was born on Feb. 16, 1922 in Moore County to Henry James Gilliland and Emily Adaline Bradford Gilliland. He worked at Masonite Corp. and Loflin Black Furniture. He was a part of America’s greatest generation serving in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he took part in the Normandy Invasion. He was a member of Oak Hill Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, Sunday school Superintendent and teacher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, James Gilliland and a sister, Lois Ellington. On July 3, 1948, he married Frances Louise Cody, who survives of the home; also surviving are two sons, Doug Gilliland and wife Patsy, and Terry Gilliland and wife Rebecca, all of Thomasville; grandchildren, Tracie Ward and husband Eddie, and Randall Gilliland and wife Sherry; and great-grandchildren, Amelia Ward, Noah Gilliland, and Gracie Gilliland. Funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Myers and the Rev. Dr. Steve Chipps officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park cemetery. Mr. Gilliland will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will be at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m. and at other times at the home. Mr. Parnell was born on Oct. 19, 1916, in Davidson County to George Oscar Parnell and Sallie Farabee Parnell. He was a self-employed farmer and was a member of Tyro United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Cattleman’s Association and was a ASCS Community Committeeman. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tyro United Methodist Church with the Rev. Max Shoaf officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Mittie Johnson THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Mittie Bernice Johnson, 66, of 505 Reid St., died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, in Thomasville Medical Center. Funeral service will be held in Newark, N.J. on Wednesday, July 9. Whigham Funeral Home in Newark, N.J. is in charge of arrangements. S.E. Thomas Funeral Service is in charge of local arrangements. Mary Michael Shoaf LEXINGTON — Mary Elizabeth Michael Shoaf, 89, a resident of Forest Hill Road, died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House of Winston-Salem. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Res. Frankie Matthews, Charles Shoaf and Larry Shoaf officiating. A private burial will be held. Story TRINITY — Nickey Olan Story, 51, died on Thursday, July 3, 2008, at High Point Regional Cancer Center. A private service will be held at a later date.
