- William “Bill” Cates
THOMASVILLE — Mr. William “Bill” Floyd Cates, 60, a resident of 151-15 Hasty Hill Road, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born on Aug. 19, 1947, in Guilford County to Barney Burrus Cates and Elizabeth Yvonne Davies Cates. He was the owner and operator of Bill’s Auto Repair for the last 16 years and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was a member of Reavis Memorial Baptist Church and was an avid bowler.
Funeral service will be held today at 5 p.m. at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Love officiating. The family will be at the funeral home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be directed to Reavis Memorial Baptist Church, 712 Knightdale Avenue, High Point, N.C.. 27263.

Buddie Dorsett
LEXINGTON — Mr. Buddie Dorsett, 63. of Old Highway 108, died Thursday, May 9, 2008, at his home.
Mr. Dorsett was born on May 19, 1944, in Davidson County to Elzie Lee and Vernelle Leonard Dorsett. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had worked at Thomasville Furniture Industries. Mr. Dorsett was preceded in death by as sister, Sherry Dorsett.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Briggs Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Billy Joe Yates officiating. Burial will follow in the Cid United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence.

Loy H. Fennell Jr.
MIDWAY — Loy Hunter Fennell Jr., 80, of Tower Drive, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center.
Mr. Fennell was born on June 7, 1927, in New Castle, Pa., to Loy H. Fennell and Mary McKince. He was a faithful Christian who read his bible daily and loved his church. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and retired after 42 years of service from Lucent.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Faith Missionary Alliance Church by the Revs. Michael Gates and Albert Smith. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home.

Mary Catherine Fulp
LEXINGTON — Mary Catherine Land Fulp, 84, of River Landing at Sandy Ridge, formerly of Ridgecrest Drive, died Thursday, May 8, 2008, in High Point Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Fulp was born in Rockingham County on Jan. 22, 1924, to Caleb McCown Land and Margaret Fisher Land. She was a retired Registered Nurse with Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was involved with the Girl Scots and a circle leader and active with the American Red Cross.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church of Lexington with Dr. Lee Zehmer officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.

Eric Grubb
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Eric Lorraine Grubb, 66, a resident of 12 West Sunrise Avenue, died Thursday, May 8, 2008, at his home.
He was born on May 30, 1941, in Davidson County to the late Herman Kensey Grubb and Alta Lee Glover Grubb. He retired from MGM Trucking after 22 years of service. He was a member of Community Baptist Church, where he served as associate pastor.
Funeral service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ty Thompson and the Rev. Hillis Burton officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at other times at the home of Marcus Harris, 7233 Welborn Road, Trinity.

Ransom “Mose” Middleton
LEXINGTON — Ransom Moseley “Mose” Middleton, 94, of Ridgewood Drive, died Thursday, May 8, 2008, after an extended illness.
Mr. Middleton was born on Aug. 24, 1913, in Greensboro, to Lillian Gainey and Ransom M. Middleton. He was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church and a Kiwanian. He attended King’s Business College in Greensboro and retired in 1975 as President of Cunningham Brick Company. He served with the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945, serving two years in the European Theater during World War II.
Private graveside service will be held today at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the David T. Hutchins Memorial Scholarship, Davidson County Community College, Foundation Office, P.O. Box 1287, Lexington, N.C. 27293.

Keith Rockett
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Keith Franklin Rockett, 49, a resident of 914 Liberty Drive, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Thomasville Medical Center.
He was born in High Point on July 22, 1958, to Alvin and Eva Green Rockett. He was a retired upholsterer and attended Love of God Baptist Church. On March 24, 1995, he married the former Vera Clark who survives of the home.
Graveside service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Orman officiating.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home.

Roy Roseberry
LEXINGTON — Aubrey Roy Roseberry, 58, a resident of Shuford Everhart Lane, died Wednesday, May 8, 2008.
He was born on Aug. 30, 1949, in Pulaski, Va. to Jesse Howard Roseberry and the late Jessie Jenkins Roseberry.
Memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eric Disher officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service on Sunday at Piedmont Funeral Home.

James Yarbrough Jr.
LEXINGTON — James Charles Yarbrough Jr., 37, of Vance Street, died Monday, May 5, 2008, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, from injuries received in an accident.
Mr. Yarbrough was born on Nov. 2, 1971, in Davidson County to James Charles Yarbrough Sr. and Venice Ball Yarbrough. He was a cook at Western Steer and attended Community Baptist Church.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Lexington City Cemetery by the Rev. Todd Kiger.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. today prior to the service at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.
