- Roy Bean Sr.
LEXINGTON — Roy Benjamin Bean Sr., 56, of Meadow Lane, died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at his home.
Mr. Bean was born on May 7, 1951, in Davidson County to Harvey Lee Bean and Francis Jones Bean. He was a self-employed construction worker and of the Baptist faith.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with the Rev. Timothy White officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Roger Blevins
LEXINGTON —Roger Dale Blevins, 56, died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Blevins was born on Sep. 2, 1951, in Elizabethton, Tenn. to David Salomon Blevins and Evelyn Miller Blevins. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church and worked at Lexington Furniture Industries.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church with Preacher David S. Blevin Jr. and the Rev. Jeff Walser officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of his brother, which is located at 1407 Cotton Grove Road.
Davidson funeral home is serving the family.

Frank A. Gladney Sr.
THOMASVILLE ­—Mr. Frank Arthur Gladney Sr., 63, of 118 Highland Avenue, died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at his home.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in First Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the funeral service and other times at the home.
S.E. Thomas Funeral Serivce is in charge of arrangements.

Janice Lea
LEXINGTON — Mrs. Janice Swing Lea, 68, of Sunrise Avenue, died Wednesday, April 7, 2008, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Lea was born on May 18, 1939 in Davidson County to Arlie Gilmer Swing and Genevieve Craver Swing. Prior to retirement, she was co-owner of Swing Realty High Rock Lake Realty Office.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray N. Howell III officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence on Sunrise Avenue following the memorial service today.
Memorials may be made to the American Children’s Home, P.O. Box 1288, Lexington, N.C. 27293 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Dalford Dixon Styers
THOMASVILLE — Dalford Dixon Styers, 80, of Diana Drive, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center.
Dal Styers was a native of Lexington, N.C. and was the son of Sanford Cornelius Styers and Hester Evans Styers. He was a graduate of Thomasville High School, served in the U.S. Navy and attended Catawba College and Lenoir Rhyne College. He was president of Dal Styers & Associates, an independent manufacturer’s representative, and had previously been co-owner of S&R Furniture Company and Abbotts Creek Furniture.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ivan H.M. Peden and the Rev. Peggy A. Finch officiating. Members of the R.L. Pope Bible Class are invited to sit together and should meet at the church by 1:45 p.m. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the Christian Enrichment Center of the church.
J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville is assisting the family.

ARCHDALE — Mrs. Willie Starbuck Stutts, 96, died Friday, April 11, 2008, at Westwood Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with the Rev. Jimmy Hinson and Jeff Dawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

THOMASVILLE —Mr. Michael Carl Styles, 43, of 1808 Augusta Drive, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at his residence.
He was born on Aug. 6, 1964 in Davidson County. Mr. Styles will be cremated and private family services will be held.

Marcus Whicker
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Marcus Austin Whicker, 56, of 205 Lake Drive in Thomasville, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at his residence.
He was born on Oct. 29, 1951 to Thomas Austin and Elizabeth Jean Goolsby Whicker in Atlanta, Ga. Marc was a sports car enthusiast and was a former member of the Triad Sports Car Club. He had a very strong love of the music of his era and was a great guitarist. He was fond of the Beatles and Eric Clapton. To his nieces and nephews, he was a favorite uncle and had a keen interest in outdoor adventures such as camping and hiking. Marc was preceded in death by his father, Thomas A. Whicker, in 1997; his grandparents, Clayton and Mae Goolsby; and his great-grandmother, Iva Queen Shumate.
Mr. Whicker is survived by his mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Jean Goolsby Whicker of Black Mountain; one brother, Charles C. Whicker and wife, Karen, of Thomasville; one niece, Jessica L. Whicker of Thomasville; and two nephews, Daniel C. Whicker of Hendersonville and Jacob A. Whicker of Thomasville.
Funeral service was held at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville at 4 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Byron Barker and the Rev. Michael Bowers officiating. Interment will be today at Black Mountain City Cemetery in Black Mountain, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Medical Center Blvd., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27157.
