- Nolan Austin
LEXINGTON — Nolan Stanford Austin, 70, of Green Meadows Drive, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at his home.
Mr. Austin was born on Sep. 9. 1937 in Guilford County to Jessie Stanford Austin and Lillie Rhodes Austin. He served in the North Carolina Army National Guard, was a police officer for the High Point Police Department, worked as a contractor and was a member of Hickory Chapel Church in High Point.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cotton Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Edgar J. Armfield Jr. officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, P.O. Box 1941, Lexington, N.C. 27293, or to Cotton Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, 175 Jersey Church Road, Lexington, N.C. 27292.

Grady Berrier
LINWOOD — Grady Lee Berrier, 74, of Grady Berrier Lane in Linwood, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center.
Funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Greer’s Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lori Ann Bowen officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County Building Fund, P.O. Box 1941, Lexington, N.C. 27293.

Auman Clodfelter
KERNERSVILLE — Auman Dexter Clodfelter, 72, of 2191 Georgetown Road, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born on Sep. 6, 1935 in Davidson County to the late Jerry Hubert Clodfelter and Daisy Boyles Clodfelter. Auman owned and operated Clodfelter Brothers Logging Company for 45 years along with his brother Vance. He was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church and he and his wife, “Doodle”, would have been married 50 years on April 5 of this year. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eva Johnson and Ethel Parks and one brother, June Clodfelter.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Jo “Doodle” Taylor Clodfelter of the home; one daughter, Gina Carole Conrad and husband, Tommy, of High Point; three sons, Michael Auman Clodfelter and wife, Vicki, of Kernersville, Gary Dexter Clodfelter and wife, Dana, of Archdale and Randy Huber Clodfelter of Kernersville; one brother, Vance Clodfelter of Wallburg; one sister, Alma Peele and husband, James, of Kernersville; special friend, Tonya Clodfelter; several nieces and nephews; and eight grandchildren, Tasha Clodfelter, Jason Murphy and Jody, Harley, Nick, Sara, Emily and Keith Clodfelter.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lynn Upchurch and the Rev. Randall Nealy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and other times at the home.

Iva Taylor Craven
LEXINGTON — Iva Taylor Craven, 93, formerly of N. State St. in Lexington, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, in Raleigh.
Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. June Grubb officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Davidson Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Currie
LEXINGTON — Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson “Lib” Currie, 85, died Monday, March 31, 2008.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Paul’s Chapel United Church of Christ Cemetery.
Piedmont Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Everette Fuller
Mr. Everette L. Fuller, 43, died March 30, 2008, at WFU Baptist Medical Center.
He was born on June 6, 1964. Arrangements entrusted to Gilmore Funeral Home.

Ilse Jackson
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Ilse Anna Jackson, 86, a resident of Piedmont Crossing and formerly of Pennington Avenue, died Saturday, March 29, 2008, at the nursing home.
She was born on May 8, 1921 in Berlin, Germany, a daughter of Herman Behm and Anna Iegelmann Behm. During World War II she was a nurse with the International Red Cross. After moving to Thomasville in 1961, she was employed with the old City Memorial Hospital as a labor and delivery nurse and later worked as a private duty nurse. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was married to Ellis Finch Jackson who preceded her in death.
Funeral service was held Monday at 3 p.m. at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel with the Rev. Christopher Uren officiating. Burial followed in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mary Kennedy
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Mary Edith Kennedy, 96, a former resident of 505 Albertson Road, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Britthaven of Davidson.
She was born in Alleghany County on Feb. 29, 1912 to Gordon and Lula Wyatt. She was a retired employee of Adams Millis and a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
Graveside funeral service will be on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. B. Joe Parker officiating.

LEXINGTON — Ralph Owens, 87, of the Brian Center and formerly of Oakdale St. in Lexington, died Friday, March 28, 2008, at the nursing facility.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Max Shoaf officiating. Entombment followed at the Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum with military rites by V.F.W. Post 3074.

Mary Winebarger Roach
LEXINGTON — Mary Pearl Winebarger Roach, 66, died Thursday, March 27, 2008.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Maranatha Baptist Tabernacle by the Rev. Thomas Todd. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Doug Surratt
DENTON — Herman Douglas Surratt, 61, of Daniel St. in Denton, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Surratt was born on May 8, 1946 in Davidson County to Herman W. Surratt and Martha Pauline Cranford Surratt. He worked as a Nailer for Terrell Brothers Manufacturing and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Denton. He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Gail Surratt.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with the Reverends Cladie Harrison, Gerald Ward, Steve McLain, and Johnny Gobble officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence.
