- Arnold Clodfelter
LEXINGTON — Mr. Arnold Reid Clodfelter, 84, died March 19, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center.
He was born on Aug. 18, 1923, in Davidson County to the late Arnold Lee and Etta Mae Leonard Clodfelter. He worked for the Federal Government at the Veterans Administration in Winston-Salem for 37 years before retiring in 1980. He was also a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Word War II.
Funeral service will be at Center United Methodist Church in Welcome at 2 p.m. today. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Center UMC Christian Fellowship Center, P.O. Box 179, Welcome, N.C. 27374.

Gilbert Crotts
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Gilbert Eugene Crotts, 91, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, of Robinhood Road, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, in Thomasville Medical Center.
He was born on March 26, 1916, in Davidson County, to the late William Everett Crotts and Adelia Myers Crotts. He was a retired plant supervisor with Cochrane Furniture Company of Warrenton, N.C. He was also a member of Thomasville Masonic Lodge #214 A.F. & A.M., was a former member of the Thomasville Civitan Club and a past president of the Warrenton Rotary Club. Mr. Crotts was a member of First Baptist Church and the adult men’s Sunday School class.
He was married to Helen Cox, who survives, of the home. Also surviving are a daughter, Martha Crotts Yokeley and her husband, Steve, of Thomasville; two grandsons, Scott Joseph Yokeley of Greensboro and Eric Stephen Yokeley and his wife, Jessica, of Raleigh; and a great-grandson, Jackson Yokeley.
Funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. in J.C. Green & Sons Chapel with the Rev. Bynum Orr officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and other times at the home of the daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Steve Yokeley, which is located at 804 Lake Drive West in Thomasville.
The family requests memorials be directed to First Baptist Church, 8 Cramer St., Thomasville, N.C. 27360.

Sarah Dorsett
LEXINGTON — Sarah Lynette Harris Dorsett, 62, of Old Highway 109, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Hospice of the Piedmont, High Point.
Mrs. Dorsett was born on April 7, 1945, in Montgomery County, to Elisha Jones Harris and Augusta Saunders Harris. She was a cashier at Skipper’s Seafood for 17 years and was married to Arlie Artis Dorsett, who died in July 2004.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with the Rev. Don Leonard officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Valley Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the home of the daughter, Marie Bruff, on Lopp Drive in Lexington.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

George Gibson
THOMASVILLE — George Lewis Gibson, 76, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at his home.
Funeral service will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the service at Family Funeral Care in Thomasville.

Helen Pearson
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Helen Marie Twine Pearson, 87, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born on Sep. 28, 1920, in Newport News, Virginia, a daughter of the late Leslie E. Twine and Cliffie Boyce Twine. On Nov. 18, 1943, she married B. Frank Pearson Sr., who preceded her in death on Sep. 29, 1971.
Mrs. Pearson retired in 1985 from the Baptist Children’s Home (Mills Home) where she had been a house parent. Formerly a resident of Thomasville, she currently resided at GrayBrier Nursing and Retiremenet Home. She was also a member of Oak Hill Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Pearson was preceded in death by an infant son, Harold Gray Pearson; a step-son, Thomas J. Pearson; a step-daughter, Almetta P. Bumgardner; three brothers, Robert Twine, Louis Twine and Elmer “L.E.” Twine; and four sisters, May Olson, Virginia Ryan, Jean Whitfield and Gladys Harris.
Survivors include one sister, Margaret Elliott of Elizabeth City, N.C.; two brothers, James Wilbur Twin of Durham, and Eulyess Twine of Mississippi; one step-son, Frank Pearson Jr. and wife, Sarah, of Lakeland, Fla.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Nellie Beck and husband, Albert Jr., of Indian Trail, N.C.; and many nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Oak Hill Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Fair Grove United Methodist Church. Mrs. Pearson will remain at J.C. Green & Sons until taken to the church at 12:30 p.m. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
The family requests memorials be directed to Oak Hill Memorial Baptist Church, 1793 Tower Road, Thomasville, N.C. 27360.

Annie Shuler
WOODSTOCK, Ga. —Mrs. Annie Ruth Byerly Shuler, 77, a longtime resident of Longview Drive in Thomasville, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton, Ga. after a short illness.
Annie Ruth was born Dec. 10, 1930, a daughter to L. Vonzo Byerly and Minnie Esther Kepley Byerly. She was a lifelong resident of Thomasville until moving to Georgia a year ago. Mrs. Shuler retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries after working there for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Hobert Vonzo Byerly, in 1989. She was married to David Shuler Jr. who died in 1973.
Surviving are her daughter, Terri Shuler Holroyd and her husband, Robert, of Woodstock, Ga.; a sister, Lillie Inez Byerly Johnson of Thomasville; grandsons, Scott Holroyd and his wife, Regan, of Marietta, Ga., and David Holroyd and his fiance, Fay Tsao, of Roswell, Ga.; great-grandaughter, Jordon Holroyd (daughter of Scott and Regan); and nieces, Janis Brooks, Carol Holmes, Linda Crisp, Rhonda Marsh and Kay Hughes.
A graveside service will be held today at 2 p.m. in Holly Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105, which was Mrs. Shuler’s favorite charitable organization.

Jasper Williams
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Jasper “Sonny” Ellion Williams, 69, of 492 Scenic Way, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, in Hospice Home of High Point.
He was born on Oct. 9, 1938, in Marion County, Ala., a son of Harvey Sanders Williams and Frances Elizabeth Hallmark Williams. He was a retired employee of High Point Housing Authority and served in the U.S. Navy. He was married on May 24, 1969 to Jane Korte Williams, who survives of the home.
Funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. in J.C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville with the Rev. Peggy Finch officiating.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice Home of High Point, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, N.C. 27262.
