- Arline Burton Bean
Arline Burton Bean, 81, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2008, in her home. She had been in declining health for 2 years. Born in Surry County on Nov. 24, 1926, to Sherill and Ameliea Burton, she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter Bean and her two daughters.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at Family Funeral Care Chapel with the Rev. Robert Wiseman officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at Family Funeral Care in Thomasville.
 
Henry F. Flowers
Rev. Dr. Henry Franklin Flowers, 78 of Hillside Park, Thomasville died Friday Feb. 22, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today in Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with the Rev. Howard Allred and Mr. Tom Turner officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. There will also be a memorial service held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Bethpage United Methodist Church in Kannapolis.
The Rev. Flowers was born Nov. 27, 1929 in Spartanburg, S.C. to Vernon Flowers and Lottie Sullivan Flowers. He was a graduate of Young Harris College, Birmingham Southern College, Duke University Divinity School, and Trinity Evangelical Seminary where he received his Doctorate of Divinity. Rev. Flowers served several churches including; Bethpage UMC in Kannapolis, Oakview UMC in High Point, Skyland UMC in Skyland, and Fair Grove UMC in Thomasville, he also served several churches in South Carolina and built St. Paul’s Waccamaw UMC in Litchfield, S.C., where he was named Pastor Emeritus in 2001. Rev. Flowers authored three books; Heartburst, Stones By The River, and Discovery. He served as the Superintendent of the Oxford Orphanage from 1973-74. He was Past Grand Chaplin for the Grand Lodge of North Carolina Free Masons, a member of the Rhododendron Civitan Club of Asheville, and a member of the Lion’s Club.
Rev. Flowers was especially proud of his service in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the elite “Frozen Chosin”. He was honorably discharged and awarded the Purple Heart, Korean National Citation, five battle stars, a Division Citation, and a Good Conduct Citation. He enjoyed golf, Duke basketball, but preaching was his love. Rev. Flowers was preceded in death by three brothers.
He is survived by his wife Helen Thomason Flowers of the home, a son Hal Timothy Flowers and wife Susan of Asheville; a daughter Julia Flowers Lewis and husband Stacy of Ft. Mill, S.C.; a grandson David Weston Flowers, a sister Dorothea Poindexter of Vinton, VA; a step-son Rodney Perdue and wife Angela of Clemmons, three step daughters Kimberly Wood and husband Michael of Burlington, Ashley Perdue of Welcome, and Lee Ann Bethel of High Point, ten step-grandchildren Lauren West, Adam West, Jordan West, Nathan Wood, Emily Wood, Anna Bethel, Sarah Elise Bethel, Jonathan Bethel, Kristina Perdue and Katherine Perdue; and several nieces and nephews.

Inez Garrison
LEXINGTON — Vaudy Inez Garrison, 96, of Goodluck Drive, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at her home. Born March 8, 1911, in Davidson County to Julius Swicegood and Cora Fritts Swicegood, she was a member of First Wesleyan Church.
Funeral service was held Monday at First Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Michael Greer and Dewey Everhart officiating. Burial followed in Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Duke Hensley
LEXINGTON — Gurstle “Duke” Hensley, 53, of Reich Street in Lexington, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2008, in Lexington Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. Born in Sullivan County, Tenn. on March 15, 1954, to James Hollis (Bud) Hensley and Vernie Jennings Hensley, he was a former assistant supervisor with Alma Desk and DarRan Furniture in High Point.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Arrington Heights Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug McGee officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

David Jackson
DENTON — Mr. J. David Jackson, 90, of East N.C. 47, Denton, died Sunday, Feb. 24, at Thomasville Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Siloam United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sandy Young and the Rev. Fred Hill officiating. Burial will Military Honors conducted by the Randolph County Honor Guard will be at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. Memorials may be directed to Siloam united Methodist Church or to the Denton Public Library Building Fund.

Mary Parker 
LEXINGTON — Mrs. Mary Crotts Parker, age 78, a resident of Brian Center, formerly of Wren Boulevard, Lexington, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at Brian Center.
Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Billy Sloop officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum. After the service, the family will meet at Central Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Piedmont Funeral Home.

Grace Perryman
WINSTON SALEM — Grace Naomi “Sis” Peak Perryman, 79, of Winston-Salem, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at Springwood Care Center. Born Dec. 2, 1928, in Forsyth County, a daughter of Howard Newton Peak and Stella Louise Cook Peak, she was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p .m. today at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel with the Revs. Richard Everhart and Craig Peak officiating. Burial will follow in Saints Delight Primitive Baptist Church Cemtery.

Larry Revell
TROY — Larry Wayne Revell, 60, of Low Water Bridge Road, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital in Troy. Born Aug. 11, 1947, in Montgomery County to Howard Eugene and Adelaide Flynt Revell, he served his county in the U.S. Army.

Marshall L. Saunders
Marshall Lewis Saunders, 69, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at Thomasville Medical Center. Born Aug. 11, 1938, to Ed and Ethel Saunders in Moore County, he was preceded in death by his parents, three children and one brother.
Funeral service was held Monday at Love of God Baptist Church in Thomasville with Pastor Michael Orman officiating. Interment followed in Holly Hill Memorial Park. 

Mary E. Shoemaker
Mary Evelyn Shoemaker, 83, of 221 Carolina Ave. in Thomasville died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2008. 
Born in Asheboro, July 27, 1924 to Pearly F. Miller and Fallie Hedrick she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, three sisters and a son. 
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Family Funeral Care Chapel in Thomasville, with the Rev. Jimmy Dillion and Chris Uren officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church Cemetery in Ramseur. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
 
Julius K. Williams    
Julius Kyle Williams, 81, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at Thomasville Medical Center. Born on July 2, 1926, in Davidson County to Fred and Anna Klass Williams, he was preceded in death by his parents. He was retired from the City of Thomasville after 35 and a half years of service with 22 years as the city manager. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Thomasville. Kyle was a loving husband, beloved father and an adoring grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.
His is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Catherine Shuler Williams, of the home; daughter Lee Ann Burton and her husband, Rodney, of Thomasville, Jane Montgomery and her husband, Monty, of Dobson; brother Kenneth Williams and his wife, Betty, of Thomasville; grandchildren Brittany and Alexa Montgomery of Dobson and Joshua Burton of Thomasville.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Chris Uren officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Family Funeral Care in Thomasville. Memorials may be made to Thomasville Medical Center, 207 Old Lexington Ave., Thomasville, N.C. 27360.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Thomasville Medical Centers’ staff in the Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit and the third floor staff members for their dedication and commitment to our family during a very difficult time.
