- Philip Boles
Philip Edward Boles, 76, of 714 Harrington St. in Thomasville, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, in High Point Regional Hospital. Born Jan. 9, 1932, in Davidson County, he was a retired employee of Thomas Manufacturing and he served his country in the U.S. Navy, a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday in J.C. Green and Sons Chapel with the Rev. David Jones and the Rev. Hillis Burton officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the home

Shirley Cashion
Mrs. Shirley Jean Slate Cashion, 71, a resident of Lakeview Drive East passed peacefully into the Lord’s presence surrounded by her family Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at High Point Regional Health System.
Mrs. Cashion was a daughter of the late Charles A. (Pete) and Catherine Anne Basinger Slate Pittman, born Feb. 9, 1936, in Davidson County. Shirley was a homemaker and also worked part time at Greensboro Auto Auction, High Point Auto Auction and Mendenhall Auto Auction. Some of her hobbies and special interests were singing, reading, cooking, softball, judging speech and debate competitions and spending time with her granddaughters. She attended Bethel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Charles Slate and Don Slate. On Jan. 1, 1960, she married Donald L. Cashion who survives of the home.
Also surviving is her son Donald Lewis Cashion II of the home, two daughters; Jaimi Baker and her husband Scott of Asheboro, N.C. and Andrea Greene and her husband Heath of Winston Salem, N.C.; grandchildren; Hannah Baker of Asheboro, N.C., Olivia, Ashlyn, and Eliana Greene all of Winston Salem, N.C.; two sisters: Evelyn Harrington and her husband Ray and Joann Mitchell all of Thomasville.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today in the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ben K. Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The Cashion family received friends Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of Ray and Evelyn Harrington, 138 Lakeview Circle Thomasville, NC.

Anna Chaplin
CORVALLIS, ORE. — Anna M. Chaplin, 79, of Corvallis, Ore., died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at Timberhill Place.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel with the Rev. Nancy Krall officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Ruby Phillips
Mrs. Ruby Phillips, 80, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at Hospice Home of High Point. Mrs. Phillips resided at Britthaven of Davidson Nursing Center and was formerly of Davidson Street. She was born July 21, 1927, in Davidson County and was a homemaker and a member of West End United Methodist Church.
Her husband, Cletus Phillips; young daughter, Tammie Phillips and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Osborne preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memories are daughters: Mrs. Shelby Brisendine and husband Jim of High Point, Mrs. Kathy Hilton and husband Jerry both of Thomasville; sons, Bobby Phillips and wife Jean, Tony Phillips and wife Pat and Ronnie Phillips and wife Tammy, all of Thomasville; grandchildren, Jamie Brisendine and wife Joanne of Wallburg, Jason Phillips of Thomasville, Miss Mandy Phillips of Thomasville, Dustin Hilton and wife Jennifer of Thomasville, YN3(SS) Joshua W. Hilton stationed on the U.S.S. Greeneville, Robby Phillips and wife Jessica of Thomasville, Cameron and Matthew Phillips of Thomasville; great-grandchildren, Corey Phillips, Morgan Brisendine, Natalie, Colby and Casey Hilton, and Madison Phillips and Nic Hohn; a sister, Mrs. Frankie Patterson and husband Derral of Loganville, Ga.; brothers, Roby Osborne and John Osborne and his wife Barbara all of Thomasville. Mrs. Phillips was also loved by her nieces: Lynn Malphurs and her husband George of Archdale, Sherry Melville and her husband Don of Loganville, Ga., and Terry Dempsey and her husband Jerry of Oxford, Ga., and her nephews, Steve Patterson and Norcross, Ga., Rick Patterson of Atlanta, Ga., and Marvin Osborne of Thomasville.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. in West End United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Stein and the Rev. Dr. Gregory B. Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Phillips will remain at the J.C. Green & Son Funeral Home until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home of a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Tammy Phillips, 1605 Tower Road, Thomasville.
The family request memorials be directed to Hospice Home of High Point, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, N.C. 27262 or to West End United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Brenda Pennington, 1230 Stemp Everhart Road, Thomasville, N.C. 27360.

LEXINGTON — James Eddie “Jim” Towery, 63, of Conrad Street in Lexington, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at the National Cemetery with the Rev. Doug McGee officiating.
