Shirley Slate Cashion, 71, of Lakeview Drive East in Thomasville, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, in the High Point Regional Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home.

Paul Farabee
Mr. Paul Vernon Farabee, 87, a resident of 611 Carter Drive in Thomasville, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008 at his residence.
Mr. Farabee was born June 27, 1920, in Thomasville, a son of Walter H. and Mary Holmes Farabee. A lifelong resident of Thomasville, he was a former employee and retiree of Commercial Carving, and a member of Emanuel Baptist Church. There, he was a trustee and served on the senior usher board. Fraternally, he was a member of American Legion Post 0284. Serving his country in the United States Army was a commitment he took seriously. His wife, the former Hazeline Lowery, preceded him in death, as well as a son, Floyd Spencer, his parents, two sisters, and three brothers.
Survivors include three children, Doland and Roland Farabee of the home, and Magaline Bowman and husband, Robert, of High Point; three stepchildren, Walter Ray Farabee and wife, Lula, of High Point, Paulette Farabee of Clinton, S.C., and Sylvia Farabee of Thomasville; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one brother, Harvey Lee Farabee and wife, Ruth, of Thomasville; four sisters, Bessie Farabee, Eva Farabee, Clara Mae Farabee, and Margie Ree Miller, all of Thomasville; special grandson, Vernon Farabee; special nephew, Rickey Farabee; special friend, Peggy Thompson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, at Emanuel Baptist Church, 204 Turner St., where the Rev. Michael McNair is pastor. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park with military honors. Family visitation will be at the church Saturday, 12:30 to 1:00 p.m., and other times at the residence.

John D. Govus
John D. Govus, 92, of Elmira, N.Y., formerly of Thomasville, died on Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at Elcor Health Services in Horseheads, N.Y.
Funeral and committal services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday with the Rev. Jasper Smith officiating with military honors accorded. Burial will follow at Beech Flats Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Southern Tier Hospice at 11751 E. Corning Road, Corning, N.Y. 14830 or to a charity of one’s choice.

Ervin Lee Kenner
BROCKTON, MASS. – Ervin Lee Kenner, 75, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, in Brockton Hospital in Massachusetts.

Benjamin D. Lemly
SOUTHMONT, N.C. — Benjamin David Lemly, 82, of Avenue I in Southmont, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, in Lexington Memorial Hospital. Born March 9, 1925, in Davidson County, he was a retired employee of Carolina Finishing.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Max Shoaf officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.

Aurie Myers Jr.
LEXINGTON — Aurie Sanford Myers Jr., 83, of Centerclair Nursing Center, Lexington, formerly of West Fifth Avenue, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, in Centerclair. Born Dec. 27, 1924, in Philadelphia, Pa., he was a retired engineer with IBM and he served his country in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the Pacific Theater, a veteran of World War II.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Chapel of Piedmont Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service today at Piedmont Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Centerclair Nursing Center, 185 Yountz Road, Lexington, N.C. 27292 or to the First United Methodist Church, 310 South Main St., Lexington, N.C. 27292.
