Dorothy Everhart Jones Allen, 89, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at her daughter Susan McCurry’s home at 204 Quaker Lake Drive, Archdale. She had lived more than 30 years on Colonial Club Drive. She was born Nov. 19, 1918, in Davidson County, a daughter of Joseph Henry Everhart and Lillian Welborn Everhart. Her parents and younger brother, Reid Everhart proceeded her in death. Mrs. Allen was a lifelong member of Fair Grove United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the United Methodist Women for many years. She was a founder of Meals on Wheels delivery in the Fair Grove Community. Also an active member of the Thomasville Woman’s Club and the Thomasville Garden Club, and was a former registrar with the Davidson County Democratic Party. Mrs. Allen worked 36 years for the late Dr. R.L. McDonald. On Oct. 12, 1935, she married Lloyd G. Jones, who died Oct. 11, 1972. She was married on June 26, 1975, to James Walker Allen, who died July 2, 1997. Surviving are daughters, Kathryn Jones Walsh of Trinity; Mrs. Tom (Lynette Jones) Scott of Thomasville and Mrs. Gene (Susan Jones) McCurry of Archdale; six grandchildren, Laura Walsh Austin of Trinity, Cynthia Walsh Ingram and Stephanie Walsh Arnold of Thomasville, Scott Reece of Mebane, Wayne Scott of Thomasville and Emily McCurry of Archdale; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at 3 p.m. in Fair Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Toni Ruth Smith, the Rev. Joe D. Parker and the Rev. Crawford Crenshaw officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Allen will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until taken to the church Sunday at 1:30 p.m., where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home of her daughter, Susan McCurry, 204 Quaker Lake Drive, Archdale. Betty was born on April 30, 1926, and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Bruce Orleans and Carrie Reese Shimfessel Bartee. She received a B.S. and M.A. degree in Music from the University of Kentucky. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and an active alum in Lexington. Betty was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Lexington Singers choral group for over 25 years. Betty enjoyed music, playing bridge, and traveling with her friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, William K. Blue, Jr. She is survived by her son, William Kearney-Bruce Blue of Lexington, Ky.; daughters, Sara Blue Graeub and husband Charles Max Jr. of Thomasville, N.C., and Margaret Blue Hofsass and husband Jerry Alan of Burke, Va.; grandchildren, Willliam Barrett Hawkins of Lexington, Ky., Charles Max III, Leah Katherine, Dena Caroline, and Adrienne Chapman Graeub of Thomasville, N.C. There will be a celebration of Betty’s life on Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Milward Funeral Home in Lexington, Ky. Deborah Hutchins Harrison LEXINGTON — Deborah Kay Hutchins Harrison, 50, of Village Drive, Lexington, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Henry Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Hepler LEXINGTON — Julia “Annie” Buie Hepler, 96, of Easter Road, Lexington, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, in Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Sale. Born March 11, 1911, in Davidson County, she was a homemaker. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today in Forest Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Tommy Hepler officiating. Paul Edward Hilton Sr. Paul Edward Hilton Sr. 85, a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother went to meet his Lord at the Hospice Home in High Point on Thursday night, Dec. 20, 2007. He was born on July 16, 1922, in Davidson County to James Vernie Hilton and Alma Grace Vaden Hilton. He spent his whole life in the Hasty community; he saw it transform from tobacco fields to subdivisions. He served with distinction in the Navy during World War II, braving both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres of war during America’s fight for freedom. He retired as a truck driver for Triad Steel where he always spoke fondly of his time there and the many people whose paths he had crossed on his journeys. Paul never met a stranger; he befriended people everywhere he went. A devout Christian, Paul was a long serving deacon at Brentwood Baptist Church in High Point. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Melba Inscore Hilton on April 9, 1994, and a brother, Norman Hilton. Surviving are four children, Brenda Elliott and her husband Stanley of Trinity, Paul Edward Hilton Jr. and his wife Vicki of Thomasville, Cathie Tew of Midway, and Connie Jacobs and her husband Jim of Denton; brothers, Bill Hilton of Thomasville, J.C. Hilton of Salisbury, Roy Hilton of Fla., Ray Hilton of High Point, and Don Hilton of Greensboro; sisters, Lucille Jones, Kathleen Mabe, Opal Hubbard, all of Thomasville, and Jeanette Crouch of Trinity; five grandchildren, Barri Payne, Heather King, Cliff Tew, Jennifer Jacobs, and Justin Jacobs; great-grandchildren, Averie King, Mason King, and Amelia Payne. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 23, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Brentwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Scott and the Rev. Ron Chapman officiating. Online condolences may be sent to www.jcgreenandsons.com. *** Carl Wilson Lackey Carl Wilson Lackey, 88, a resident of Thomasville, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at Thomasville Medical Center. He was born June 19, 1919, in Lawsonville, in Stokes County, N.C., to Roy Lackey and Hester Smith Lackey. Mr. Lackey resided in High Point and Thomasville for most of his life. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Lackey served his country as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army. While serving a tour of duty in Tunisia, North Africa, Mr. Lackey met his wife of 63 years, Mrs. Gilberte “Nona” Henry Lackey. After their marriage in North Africa, the couple returned to High Point where Mr. Lackey became a successful entrepreneur, operating several businesses. He had been active in the North Carolina Walking Horse Association and the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ and Exhibitors’ Association. He raised, trained, and showed Tennessee Walking horses during the majority of his life. He passed on his love of horses, to his son, Eric Lackey, who has shown his world championship horse at the Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration in Shelbyville, Tenn. Mr. Lackey was also an avid hunter, who enjoyed training bird dogs and farming on his land. Mr. Lackey was a loving husband, father, and wonderful grandfather. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Josiane Lackey Laumann of Thomasville; Denise Sharon Lackey of High Point; and Eric Carl Lackey and his wife, Diane of High Point; one granddaughter, Taylor Laumann Conner and her husband, Rick of Harrisburg, North Carolina; brother, Lloyd Marshall Lackey and his wife, Tabitha of High Point; step-brother Donald Lee Blair and his wife Dianna of Wilmington; sister Frances Blair Wall and her husband Jack of Archdale; sister, Mary Blair Barham and her husband, Bobby of Thomasville; and step-sister Marguerite Blair Butler of Suffolk, Va.; and his favorite bird dog, Duke. Mr. Lackey was preceded in death by his stepfather, Mack Blair; his brothers, Mack Ray Blair, Clifton Allen Blair; stepbrothers Rankin McKinley Blair; and nephew, Robert Marshall Lackey. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at 3 p.m. at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville by Father Jim Turner of Our Lady of the Highways Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Born Oct. 2, 1945, he had worked at Cagle Sawmill and Burlington Industries. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Conley officiating. Interment will follow in New Home United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church. Robert Sink Robert Clay Sink, 76, a resident of Thomasville, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at his residence. Memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. today at Faith Baptist Church in Archdale with the Rev. Steve Welborn officiating.
