Two more arrested in recent crimes

Two more arrests in unrelated cases have led to the final arrest in the murder of a Thomasville man in Greensboro, as well as that of a home invasion and assault on another Thomasville man at his home on Fisher Ferry Road. Both crimes occurred last year.
Scottie Alonzo Menser, 25, of Greensboro turned himself in at the Guilford County Magistrate’s office Monday night. Menser is incarcerated in the Guilford County Jail. So are Vonisha Lashell Patrick and Malik Tashebaa Curry. All three have been charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of Frank Gladney Jr.
Gladney, a 45-year-old Thomasville resident, was found dead of a gunshot wound at 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 28 in Patrick’s home at 1373 Lees Chapel Road in Greensboro. Police believe that Gladney was lured to Patrick’s home so that Menser and Curry could rob him. The robbery attempt, police feel, resulted in the shooting death of Gladney.
Patrick was arrested in her hometown of Roper on Feb. 4. Greensboro Police arrested Curry, 17, the next day.
“We were glad [Menser] turned himself in,” said Lt. Brian James of the City of Greensboro Police. “That was the right thing to do. I just hate that he was part of this homicide, but we feel like now we’ve got everybody connected with it in custody. We’ll let the legal system take its course at this point.”
Meanwhile, the Thomasville Police Department feels that it has arrested the final suspect in the home invasion and assault on Jason Lambeth that took place in December. Matthew Ryan McCall, 24, of Thomasville, was arrested at Oak Hollow Mall in High Point, after eluding Thomasville police for several days.
“He had been staying in High Point,” Detective Alan Pope of the Thomasville Police Department said of McCall. “He was actually hiding from me and jumping from residence to residence.”
Finally Pope, the lead detective on this case, learned that McCall had taken a job in a store at Oak Hollow Mall, where the arrest was made.
McCall has been charged with five counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, robbery with a dangerous weapon, breaking and entering, six counts of first degree kidnapping and conspiracy. He is in the Davidson County Detention Center and has been placed under $1 million secured bond.
“I think I’ve got everyone who is involved in this incident,” Pope said of the December home invasion.
Four Winston-Salem men are also incarcerated in the Davidson County Detention Center for the same home invasion and each of them is also under $1 million secured bond. Everett Michael Byers has been charged with the same charges as McCall. Corey Javodd Simmons, Nicholas DaLan Alexander and Jerome David Poole face the same charges with the exception of conspiracy.
After the assault at his home late last year, Lambeth was taken to Thomasville Medical Center, where he was treated and released. The victim, however, has continued to receive treatment for these injuries.
“I haven’t spoken with him in the last week or so, but I would say that he’s probably on his way to recovery,” Pope said of Lambeth. “I don’t know what the extent of his treatments are at this time.”
While Pope thinks he has caught all the men who attacked Lambeth, he still feels more investigation of these suspects is underway.
“There could be charges pending from other agencies,” Pope said. “These suspects may have been involved in other incidents in surrounding cities. The Feds are looking to adopt this case.”
