Frank Gladney Jr,, 45, was found dead of a gunshot wound at 1373 Lees Chapel Road in Greensboro, at 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 28. The Thomasville resident had apparently been shot to death at the residence of Vonisha Lashell Patrick. Patrick was arrested on Feb. 4 in her hometown of Roper, an eastern North Carolina town in Washington County. On. Feb. 5, Malik Tashebaa Curry was arrested in Greensboro. Both are charged with first degree murder.
The Greensboro police are looking for Scottie Alonzo Menser, 25. Warrants have also been issued for Menser in connection with the same homicide.
“As far as I know, [Menser] is from the area, but I can’t tell you exactly where his hometown is,” said Lt. Brian James of the City of Greensboro Police. “We have reason to believe he was in Greensboro this week, but we think we’ve missed him — probably by about a half a day or so.”
James said he believes Gladney knew Patrick, whose residence was where his body was discovered. The Greensboro detective seemed to feel that robbery was the motive for killing Gladney.
“From what we can determine from the investigation, at this point, robbery was the motive,” James said. “Apparently, it ended up turning into a homicide, unfortunately.”
When asked if he was of the opinion that Patrick knew Gladney and participated in a scheme to rob him, James replied, “From what we can determine at this point, that’s what we came to in our investigation. The district attorney is going to prosecute them on these charges.”
