Staff Writer Darrick Ignasiak - A Thomasville man admitted to fatally stabbing his wife Monday afternoon at Holly Hill Apartments.
Jason Cameron Norris, 24, of 50 West Holly Hill Road Apt. 64, has been charged by Thomasville Police with the murder of Jennifer Leann Norris, 23, of the same household. The stabbing resulted from a “domestic quarrel,” according to Lt. Raymond Widener of the Thomasville Police Department.
At about 3 p.m., police received a call to the home in regard to a medical emergency and an assault. Widener said Jason Norris admitted to authorities as soon as they arrived on the scene that he killed his wife. The couple’s two children, ages 2 and 4, were present at the tragic scene. The children were uninjured.
“He had blood all over him,” Widener said. “There was blood all over her. There was evidence found on the scene consistent [with her wounds]. He tried to give CPR to her. He had blood all over his mouth.”
Needless to say, authorities found enough evidence to take the husband into custody. He is being held at the Davidson County Jail without bond, and his first court appearance is April 18.
When Paramedics arrived to the scene, they found a large-gaping laceration to the victim’s neck and stab wounds to her body, according to Widener. She was transported to Thomasville Medical Center, and later was pronounced dead.
Widener confirmed Jason Norris had a criminal background of communicating threats. According to police reports, he was an employee at McDonalds on Liberty Drive and she was listed as a medical technician.
As of 10 p.m. Monday night, Thomasville police were still investigating the crime. Davidson County District Attorney Garry W. Frank and the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office are also investigating. Police have yet to determine an exact motive for the brutal crime.
The homicide is the first in Thomasville since 2006.
Anyone with information about the crime is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers of Thomasville at 476-TIPS.
